Community Connections...One person at a time!
Evangel hosted a Free Community Carnival for almost a decade. The parking lot was filled with bounce houses, games, food and a whole lot of kids! Take a look at the video from our carnival 2013!
In the spring of 2012, a group of ladies got together to start collecting gently used formal/prom dresses. They wanted to be able to provide dresses to girls who couldn't afford the high cost of a prom dress, but really wanted to be able to attend prom. Now, having finished it's second give-away, the Giving Closet has provided dresses, shoes, jewelry, purses, and minor alterations for a lot of girls! If you have a prom or formal dress that you would like to donate, please call the church office! See more pics at their Facebook Page--Giving Closet
In September 2008, a food pantry ministry began at Evangel. Food and other items are donated by church members, area businesses, and purchased through Second Harvest Food Bank. Distribution days are the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. There are many opportunities to serve in the Positive Impact ministry on weekdays as well as on distribution days. Please check the bulletin or call the church office for more information.
This summer we hosted our 2nd Neighborhood BBQ. As you can see from the pictures, we had a beautiful day and a huge turnout! It was great to get together with our neighbors and just get to know each other a bit better!
Vacation Bible School is all about kids! One week during the summer, the church transforms into a fun-filled world--with a different theme every summer. As the kids go through the different stations--music, crafts, Bible story time, games and snack--the theme is reinforced. We always end the week with a special parent's program on Friday evening.

Stand in our parking lot on Southern Blvd. any school day and you can hear the sounds of children playing during recess at nearby Market Street Elementary School. Two-thirds of the children qualify for free or reduced lunch due to the low income level of their families. When families have a hard time feeding their children, you can be sure that they often go without other necessary things as well.
At the start of the new school year in 2012, EBC began a program to donate back packs to needy children so that they could start off the school year fully supplied. Many of the kids simply show up with no packs at all, much less the long list of supplies needed to ensure that they get the most out of their education. We started out deciding to commit to 24 since it was our first time. Due to the great response from the people in our church we ended up giving over 100 backpacks combined to both Market Street and Robinwood Lane Elementary Schools! This year we also added Youngstown Christian to our school list.
Pumpkin Palooza 2014
It all began in 2012 as a parent pit stop idea! We wanted parents to be able to stop by, pick up a hot drink, and a snack while they were making the rounds in the neighborhood. Well, the weather hasn't cooperated any of the last three years so we've not had the chance to have it outside yet--but it has grown each of time and we had a packed house for 2014. Take a look below at the pics of the great time we had, and the great treats we consumed!
