Position:                              Audio Visual Technician Coordinator

Reports to:                         Church Administrator

Position Status:                  Part Time, Average of 8 to 12 hours per week

Purpose:                             To provide leadership for the technology, media, and production ministries of Evangel Baptist Church in cooperation with the church’s mission, vision, and values.

Position Description:


The Audio Visual Technician coordinator oversees and coordinates with volunteers all aspects of the sanctuary AV system, records & live streams worship Sunday mornings, uploads videos to appropriate livestream platforms, runs presentation software, and designs digital graphics/slides as need. They must work in church Sunday mornings during all rehearsal and worship service hours.  Other duties during the week may be completed remotely.  The AV Technician must be available to work on Christmas Eve & Easter during the worship services. The AV Technician is permitted to request, with proper notice, six Sundays off a year (excluding Easter or Christmas Eve).


The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment as needed. Also, produce the best possible atmosphere for worship through sound reinforcement. This includes but is not limited to, creating the best music mix possible, creating an audio mix that meets the mood the pastor wants to convey, and supporting the audio needs of the people involved with the church service. Sunday and other worship service duties include but are not limited to:



  • Set up for musicians and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions
  • Set up and operate sound equipment.
  • Create and share links to live streamed services.
  • Perform proper line check.
  • Perform proper sound check; includes gain settings, monitor mixes, proper volume settings, and eq/mixing process. Monitor sound feels to ensure quality.
  • Test and resolve equipment issues.
  • Diagnose and correct media system problems.
  • Check with pastor for worship schedule and any schedule changes.


During Service

  • Responsible for adjusting sound levels during service as needed.
  • Responsible for following pastor’s direction and musician’s direction during services.
  • Responsible for recording and live streaming the service.
  • Responsible for following stage and schedule cues.
  • Responsible for providing a distraction-free service as it relates to audio production.
  • Determine and execute filming sequences and camera movements.


Post Service

  • Return any media to individuals or church office
  • Talk with the musicians to find out if issues existed for them during service.
  • Note any broken/faulty equipment and take it out of service if possible.
  • Clear Stage of equipment as needed and re-organize multimedia equipment.
  • Edit and post videos online – YouTube & Church Website As Needed or Required
  • Clean audio and video equipment and store properly.
  • Ensure equipment the safe transfer and shipment of equipment.
  • Duplicate audio and video data.
  • Train volunteers to assist working the AV system during worship services and to cover for the AV technician approved days off.
  • Other duties as assigned by pastoral staff.


Summary of Primary weekly Responsibilities:

  1. Advance the mission and ministry of the church through technology, facilitation of worship services, media, live sound, etc.
  2. Serve as lead technician for primary church gatherings.
  3. Lead, manage, recruit, schedule, train and coordinate volunteers for Sunday morning and other church related events and activities.
  4. Manage sound, staging and lighting in the Worship Center.
  5. Ensure technologies are in working order and ready for rehearsals.
  6. Oversee the execution of song slides, sermon notes, and other media for the Sunday gathering.
  7. Work with appropriate worship leaders, staff and volunteers to ensure all events (inside and outside) have the needed tech coverage.
  8. Film and edit videos for use in Evangels various media venues and social media platforms (testimonials, teaching videos, sermons, video blogs, etc.).
  9. Assist worship leaders and ministry staff in planning and coordinating the weekly worship services and other large-scale worship events.
  10. Maintain tech equipment inventory across the facility.
  11. Distribute weekly service media to appropriate sources (YouTube upload, website, Facebook, etc.).
  12. As possible, participate in weekly Evangel Staff meetings.
  13. Responsible for managing the budgetary needs of the tech ministry and making recommendations of purchase of new equipment and technology.
