Youth Ministry Vision Statement:

Youth Ministry Mission:
Engage and promote activities for Youth within our church and our community to:
  • Develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Promote outreach activities to encourage Youth to be involved in youth group and Sunday morning Bible classes and corporate worship
  • Teach and encourage youth to love God, and others
  • Instruct and teach skills to be able to learn and grow in faith through study of the scriptures
  • Encourage friendships and relationships that will uplift and support others throughout life
  • Establish a place &/or group that all Youth can feel welcomed and loved

PURPOSE AND PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
The Youth Pastor/Director is a full time (40 hours per week) ministry staff associate whose primary purpose and function is to develop and provide spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership and ministry to the Youth of Evangel Baptist Church and surrounding communities.  Ministry leadership includes: the weekly Sunday School program for Youth, Sunday and Wednesday night activities, and other special programming such as Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, Camp Burton summer camp and retreats, mission projects, and other special events.

The Youth Pastor/Director shall seek to build a strong, growing ministry that:

1. Introduces youth to Christ, makes disciples, and facilitates and nurtures growth in Christian faith. These are accomplished through disciple-making, Bible study, prayer, 1:1 mentoring, fellowship, worship, mission service, and evangelism.

2. Strives to build Christ-like relationships with parents, youth, and church leaders that strengthens their commitment to growth in faith in Jesus Christ
 QUALIFICATIONS & POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Youth Pastor/Director plays a vital role in the faith development of youth within the church, both as a leader and as a role model. Evangel seeks a person who has a solid understanding of the foundations of Christian faith and who has a strong desire to lead and disciple youth in the Christian faith. The following qualifications are required:

1. A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, spiritual maturity, high moral and ethical conduct, and a teachable spirit.

2. Previous Believers Baptism by immersion, or willingness to be baptized at beginning of employment.

3. A visible sense of call and a passion for working with young people and other youth team members.

4. Strong expository teaching skills, with a solid biblical and theological background, and agreement with Evangel Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith.

5. Friendly, enthusiastic, flexible, and adept at using a team approach while working with youth, parents, and fellow staff members.

6. Self-motivated leadership skills, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry.

7. Good organizational, administration and computer/technology skills.

8. Ability to recruit, train, organize and motivate volunteers for youth ministries.

9. A strong people person who finds it easy to connect with and maintain relationships with parents of church youth, and all families of the church.

10. Previous youth ministry experience is required.  A bachelor’s degree (or higher) and experience in youth ministry which equips them to understand adolescent development and skill levels is highly recommended.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
The following are specific duties and responsibilities of the Youth Pastor/Director:
1. Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing biblical teaching, worship, discipleship, evangelism, and fellowship. 

2. Coordinates, promotes, implements, and further develops a quality spiritual education for Youth, which would include Sunday School, Sunday and/or Wednesday night activities, VBS, Camp Burton summer camp, missions, and other seasonal, after school, and any other special events.

3. Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth staff with diverse backgrounds, gifts, and personalities.

4. Maintain regular and consistent contact with students and parents, keeping all informed of scheduled activities, programs and events.
 
5. Communicate with Evangel’s Leadership Team and parents of youth the ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnerships and involvement. 

6. Equip and encourage youth for ministry and mission opportunities.

7. Submits an annual basic Ministry Action Plan to the Senior Pastor which outlines a strategic plan to disciple the youth (e.g., teaching, small groups, and one-on ones).

8. Works with the Children’s Director to accomplish shared ministry events (e.g., VBS, special programs, etc.)

9. Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life, seeking to create a culture that is intentionally intergeneration, with an objective to unite with and compliment other church ministries.

10. Submit an annual budget proposal to the Stewardship Team with requested funds to accomplish the above goals and objectives.  Manage student fees for events, Camp, and trips in an appropriate and timely fashion.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
  1.  It is expected that the Youth Pastor/Director will become a member of Evangel Baptist Church and attend worship services, special events and meetings – assisting with each as requested.
  2. Weekly meetings with Senor Pastor to provide ministry updates and receive encouragement, direction, mentoring and support.
  3.  Remain current with youth ministry practices by reading, spending time with other Converge and local church youth pastors and attending youth leadership events. 
  4. Fulfill other pastoral and administrative duties as requested by the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned
